Expedition Yacht Aqua Blu Returns

Aqua Blu had visited for the first time to Benoi yard back in 2019 when its owner entrusted ST Engineering to carry out re-painting work on the vessel’s entire topside. The work was accomplished seamlessly, thanks to the construction of staging all around the yacht’s superstructure, creating an encapsulation. In March 2020, the yacht was seen in Benoi Yard again for her annual maintenance work.

A luxury expedition yacht, Aqua Blu is the first long-range ocean explorer vessel of renowned Singapore based small ship expedition specialist Aqua Expeditions, navigating the pristine waters of East Indonesia. Originally built in 1968 as British Naval Explorer HMS Beagle, she underwent significant refurbishment in 2019. This striking 15-suite, 60-meter (197 ft) long luxury coastal cruiser sails in the archipelago’s most remote and exotic destinations including Komodo National Park, Spice Islands and Raja Ampat.

Building on the trust and excellent rapport established during the vessel’s last visit, Aqua Blu’s owner once again returned to ST Engineering for her maintenance work including piping modification, with both parties working closely to complete the work navigating through the constraints of COVID-19 Circuit Breaker in Singapore.

“We have been working together with the marine team of ST Engineering since July 2019 on the long refit project, and the maintenance works in year 2020. We would like to keep ST Engineering Marine as our home and maintenance place.

The shipyard facilities are perfect for refit and maintenance works: two syncrolifts, cranes, all necessary workshops and storage materials and big hangars to place the yacht undercover although still been used for new builds.

As an experienced shipbuilding yard, ST Engineering has long experience in basic vessel works, mechanical, dry dock works, propulsion lines, electrical works and they had gained experience in the detailed jobs required by yacht market. I’m sure that with their commitment to keep improving the Marine sector, ST Engineering will be considered amongst the top Superyacht refit locations in South Asia, I hope I can help them to reach the challenge.” Said Mr Daniel Rato, Technical Manager & Fleet Superintendent of Aqua Expeditions.
