Successful Completion of Crowley Programme

The delivery of El Taíno on 19 December 2018 marks the final milestone in a programme to construct two LNG-powered container roll on-roll off (ConRo) ships for Crowley Maritime Corporation (Crowley). The contract was awarded to VT Halter Marine in 2013. El Taíno’s sister vessel, El Coquí, was delivered in July 2018. Both vessels will provide shipping and logistics services between Jacksonville, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

El Coquí was christened at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal in Jacksonville on 20 October 2018. As the vessel’s Lady Sponsor, Mrs Christine Crowley, wife of Chairman and CEO Tom Crowley, performed the tradition of breaking a champagne bottle over the hull of El Coquí.
